A Smarter Way To Heat Your Home

An air source heat pump captures heat from the outside air and uses electricity to raise it to a useful temperature for your home. It can provide space heating and hot water throughout the year, even when the weather is cold.

Heat pumps work differently from boilers, so good design is essential. EazyHeat considers heat loss, insulation, radiator sizes, hot-water demand and the position of the outdoor unit before recommending the right system.

Why Choose A Heat Pump?

Heat pumps can deliver several units of heat for each unit of electricity used, making them an efficient alternative to direct electric heating and a lower-carbon replacement for fossil-fuel systems. They provide steady, even warmth rather than short bursts of very high-temperature heat.

A well-designed system can also reduce exposure to gas, oil or LPG price changes and make your home ready for a cleaner electricity grid. When paired with solar panels, battery storage and smart tariffs, more of the electricity used by the heat pump can come from lower-cost or self-generated power.

Heat Pump Grants And Financial Support

In England and Wales, eligible property owners can currently receive £7,500 towards a heat pump through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Until 31 March 2027, eligible off-gas homes heated by oil or LPG can receive an additional £1,500, bringing the total grant to £9,000. The scheme is installer-led, so we apply for the grant on your behalf.

Homeowners in Scotland may be able to access up to £7,500 of grant funding and an optional interest-free loan of up to £7,500 through Home Energy Scotland, with an additional rural and island uplift in qualifying areas. Qualifying residential heat pump installations also currently benefit from 0% VAT until 31 March 2027. Funding rules can change, we can confirm your eligibility before installation.

Is My Home Suitable For A Heat Pump?

Heat pumps can work in many UK homes, including older properties, but the building and heating system must be assessed properly. Good insulation helps reduce heat demand, while correctly sized radiators or underfloor heating allow the system to warm rooms efficiently at lower flow temperatures.

You will usually need suitable outdoor space for the heat pump and indoor space for a hot-water cylinder. A detailed survey will identify any recommended upgrades and show how the proposed system is expected to perform before you commit.

How Air Source Heat Pumps Operate

Air source heat pumps capture naturally occurring heat from the outdoor air, even in temperatures as low as –15°C. The system raises the temperature of this heat before using it to warm radiators, underfloor heating, or a domestic hot-water cylinder.

Extracting Outdoor Heat

The external unit pulls in surrounding air and extracts the available thermal energy.

Raising the Temperature

A refrigerant absorbs the collected heat before being compressed, which significantly increases its temperature.

Delivering Heat Indoors

The generated heat is transferred to your property’s heating and hot-water systems.

Continuous Operation

This cycle runs repeatedly to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature throughout the year.

An air source heat pump can also be combined with solar panels or solar thermal technology to create a more complete renewable energy setup, helping provide both household heating and electricity more sustainably.

Flexible ways to pay

Choose from a range of convenient payment options, including flexible finance plans or paying for your installation in full.

Flexible Monthly Repayments

Representative APR 11.9% (fixed)

Spread the cost of your installation over a longer repayment term with manageable monthly payments.

As long as your scheduled monthly payments are maintained, you can make additional payments at any time. Overpayments may help reduce the total interest charged and shorten the length of the agreement.

You will also receive the additional protections provided by the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

Representative example: Cash price £2,000. No deposit required. Total amount of credit £2,000. Interest rate 11.9% per annum fixed. Representative APR 11.9%. Agreement term 60 months. 60 monthly payments of £43.78. Total amount repayable £2,627.08.

Heat Pump Installation FAQs

The outdoor unit absorbs low-temperature heat from the air. A refrigerant circuit and compressor raise that heat to a useful temperature, which is then transferred to your radiators, underfloor heating and hot-water cylinder.

Yes. Modern heat pumps are designed to operate in low outdoor temperatures. Their efficiency changes with the weather, which is why accurate sizing and a well-designed heating system are important.

Eligible installations in England and Wales can receive £7,500 through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Eligible off-gas properties heated by oil or LPG can receive £9,000 until 31 March 2027. Different support is available in Scotland.

Many domestic installations take several days, depending on the system design and whether radiators, pipework, cylinders or electrical supplies require upgrading. Your project schedule will be confirmed after survey.

Possibly. Heat pumps normally run at lower water temperatures than boilers, so some radiators may need to be enlarged. Improving insulation can reduce heat loss and help the system operate more efficiently.

Yes, when designed as a full heating and hot-water system. A suitable hot-water cylinder is normally required because heat pumps do not produce instantaneous hot water in the same way as a combi boiler.

Running costs depend on your home, electricity tariff, existing fuel, insulation and system efficiency. EazyHeat will explain the assumptions used in your proposal rather than promising the same savings for every property.

An annual check is commonly recommended to maintain performance, identify wear and support warranty conditions. With correct installation and maintenance, heat pumps are designed for long service lives.
